The Bau-ABC Rostrup (Germany)Centre has been equipped with an ultra-modern pump regulation system

03/12/2003

Since September 2003, the Bau-ABC Rostrup German national training centre for builders of boreholes and deep wells has been equipped with two GS-series 4" submersible electric pumps, plus a HYDROVAR® frequency regulation system for their control.
With this system, donated by LOWARA Deutschland GmbH of Großostheim, the Centre has achieved its maximum technical level so far. LOWARA is a member of the ITT Group, an industrial colossus and leading supplier of pumps worldwide.
The well construction trainees will thus have the opportunity to experiment with numerous application possibilities and discover the advantages of continuous pump regulation. Moreover, they will become familiar with the programming procedure, an experience which should remove any anxieties that budding engineers may feel when dealing with the most innovative microprocessor techniques.
For this purpose, Lothar Schoka and David Urban, well construction techniques instructors at the Bau-ABC Rostrup Centre, have set up, in collaboration with their students, a mobile station equipped with the piping and fittings required for connection to a submersible pump, in order to carry out practical pumping tests with different flow rates and nominal values (see photo).
The frequency regulation system is particularly suitable for this type of applications, as it offers the opportunity of working according to clearly established operating conditions (constant pressure and flow rate, continuous operation) and of performing a supervision function. Furthermore, the establishment of a second nominal value offers additional application opportunities.
An experienced service centre will carry out regularly scheduled inspections to ensure the complete functionality of the demonstration system installed at the Bau-ABC Rostrup Centre, and the success of this practical training opportunity
