Lowara and the Jubilee

Lowara contributed towards making the installations and renovation work carried out for the 2000 Jubilee more reliable and safer, especially as regards the events connected with the World Day of Youth.
Some pumps in fact (booster units with variable speed system for water distribution, five GHV10/SV1602F22T units and five GHV10/SV6002F55T units) were used during the World Day of Youth to supply water to the toilets and showers in schools, sports centres, tent cities and accommodation centres organised for the young people participating in the event. The most important applications were installed in the Lombardia tent city in Tor Vergata, in the Galileo Galilei school, in the Fulvio Bernardini sports centre and in the Banca di Roma headquarters in Via Salaria. A special application using Lowara pump units was the firefighting system in the two subways under the Appia Antica road, one of the oldest areas of Rome, restored to its original splendour thanks to the acoustic insulation which eliminates the harmful effects of city traffic.
The installation (two UNI 9490 hydrant firefighting booster units GUY21/SV6005F150T+SV411F22T) turned out to be perfectly reliable and efficient as we had expected. Another important Lowara application was for the firefighting system in the Amedeo D'Aosta subway near Vatican City, where a mod. GUY21/SV6008F220T+SV414F30T UNI 9490 hydrant firefighting booster unit was installed.
Another special installation was the water supply to the irrigation system for the ornamental garden at Castel Sant'Angelo where a booster unit with variable speed system for water distribution was installed (mod.GHV20/SV1605F55T).
The City of Rome Parks and Gardens Department understood the importance of using variable speed systems; the pumps were installed in pleasant looking architectural settings which considerably improved the look of the parks in Rome, restoring them to their natural beauty and elegance.
Lowara also worked at the Leonardo Da Vinci airport of Rome where it installed five booster units for water distribution and UNI 9490 firefighting systems, allowing the new National Flights terminals to comply with European safety standards. Lowara also supplied three series SHE pumps which will be used to supply water to the new Artistic Fountain adjoining the new buildings.
