ITT – the Gold sponsor of Aquatech 2006
01/10/2006
At the opening ceremony of the 2006 Aquatech trade show in Amsterdam Hank Driesse, Senior Vice President and President ITT Fluid Technology said: “Aquatech is an important meeting place and trade show for the water and wastewater industry. You should view ITT’s Gold Sponsorship of this show as a reflection of our commitment to the industry and to the water issues.”
ITT is deeply involved in the cycle of water use and reuse and committed to sustainable development and utilization of the world’s water resources. Through the efforts of its scientists and engineers and the use of ITT’s products and systems, it plays an important role in the management of this vital natural resource. Early on ITT recognized the need for broad-based applications and new technology and began to expand its core competencies beyond the pump industry.
Today ITT is the largest pump producer in the world. To meet the demands of the changing water market, ITT focused on developing and integrating innovative technologies in such areas as biological treatment, monitoring and control instrumentation, membrane filtration, desalination, and UV and ozone disinfection. At Aquatech, ITT is demonstrating its capabilities through its well known product brands: Flygt, Lowara, Wedeco, Aquious and Leopold which was acquired in June of this year. “The 2006 Aquatech show is particularly important as so many municipalities around the globe are wrestling with keeping up with the demand for clean water and sanitation. As they try to establish robust sustainable systems that will allow them to provide safe water for generation to come, population growth, industry expansions, food production and more are competing for municipal resources.
The solutions to their problems include technological improvements and break-throughs coupled with governance and active conservation - there needs to be a political will and national policies for water problems to be fully addressed” Driesse said.
Dual piping and re-use are major opportunities for water to be a part of sustainable development in addressing scarcity. However, re-use and re-cycling is still very much the exception, rather than the rule for water. Recycling of paper and plastic are now a part of our economy and culture. Water cannot be far behind.
