Fifth message from ITT Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lou Giuliano to all employees

I wanted to update you on two items referenced in some of my messages immediately following the events of September 11th.
First, ITT Industries has pledged $500,000 to help fund relief efforts. We will divide this donation evenly between the September 11 Fund, administered by the United Way, and the Twin Towers Fund, established by New York's Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The September 11 Fund is dedicated to assisting all of those most directly affected by the tragedies in Washington, New York and Pennsylvania, working with state, federal and local agencies to provide help where other funds are not available. The Twin Towers Fund will assist the families of the police, fire and rescue workers killed or injured while trying to save others. I believe both funds satisfy our wish to help the victims recover from their devastating losses.
It has been gratifying to see our company returning to business as usual this week. I appreciate all of your attention to satisfying the needs of our customers amid these extraordinary circumstances. While it is still too early to say how our company will be affected, we know that many businesses have been impacted all over the world. We must work to stay ahead of the situation and adjust our plans accordingly.
I would like to express my appreciation to our colleagues around the world for all of the messages of support over the last two weeks. They have helped us through some difficult days and brought us closer together.
