ITT confirms its commitment to environmental protection and receives an award at its Polish plant

31/07/2009

Lowara Vogel Polska, part of ITT Group, received an award for its commitment to greater environmental protection through recycling. This acknowledgement confirms that we have been designated a “green” company for our effort in recycling all our production materials in the appropriate way.

The plant in Strzelin, Poland set a good example to the community demonstrating its innovative approach. In Poland the industrial development began some years ago and the problem of pollution has always been a major issue.

Starting with the presentation of ITT ideals, a number of Lowara Vogel Polska employees were introduced to the importance of recycling raw materials after the production process and the economic benefits granted by correct management. Employees also gained a greater awareness about the importance of environmental protection.

When the collection of materials is correctly separated, the value of these items increases; this process will guarantee a greater economic return, which will certainly lead to higher income during 2009.

The team including a group of warehouse workers, visited the Polish waste management centre which collects Lowara Vogel Polska waste; it began with an illustration of the waste re-classification process, the failure to differentiate the waste results in extra labour, as a consequence higher costs for the company, finally the steps performed at the plant in order to keep the waste classification process working effectively.

ITT is committed to the application of Lean processes, a system focused on all waste elimination throughout the entire organization. Such attention, focus and respect for the environment and the earth’s precious resources for future generations are reflected in the ITT motto “Engineered for life”.
